This thesis deals with the design and fabrication aspects of a single port, nondegenerate, negative resistance, S-band parametric amplifier. The signal, idler and pump frequencies in a Parametric Amplifier are required to be isolated from each other, - but at the same time well coupled to the varactor diode. These conditions present a formidable circuit problem at microwave frequencies. For that purpose appropriate filter has been designed which partially help in solving the problem and a stepped waveguide transformer structure has been choosen for pump transmission. The performance characteristics of the different sections of the amplifier have been tested and various measurements have boon done. The results of different measurements show the performance to be substantially in agreement with theoretical predictions.en_US
