Abstract: interest in surface waves stems from their short wave-lengtias, approximately 105 times smaller than the E .1I. wave-length at the same frequency and the availability of cryst .l-ine substrates having linear dimensions of the order of a few centimetre, with attenuation per wave-length lower than for L.N. waves at frequencies below 2 Q .z. in order to make full use of the potential applications available with surface waves, it is necessary to have efficient broad band trans-ducers for conversion to and from :.,M.
