Abstract: The present investigation focuses optimization of loading of catechin in as-synthesized hybrid nanostructured material of pectin and magnetite. Subsequent release studies of catechin in the in vitro gastrointestinal fluid and colonic fluid were determined by spectrophotometric method. The hybrid nanostructured material of pectin and magnetite was synthesized by following the method recently reported by our research group. The catechin loaded nanostructured material was characterized by array of techniques, ,e.g scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive x-ray analysis (SEM-EDAX), thermogravimetry (TG), infrared spectroscopy (IR) and vibrating scanning magnetometer (VSM). The release studies of catechin in the in vitro gastrointestinal and colonic fluid were performed by varying pH condition to simulated different conditions, namely, pH — 1.2 for gastric fluid, pH — 6.8 for intestinal fluid, pH — 5.5 for colonic fluid and pH 7.4 for blood. The time of contacts of the catechin loaded nanostructured material in the respective fluids were maintained to mimic the human body condition
