Title: INFLUENCE OF CANOPIES ON WIND LOADS ON LOW'-RISE BUILDINGS
Authors: Sunn, Adelyne

Issue Date: 2004
Abstract: Up till now not enough attention has been given to Canopies, which are the structural elements attached to the buildings, both high and low-rise. However, to know about its effect to the same, information on pressure coefficients is required. Existing Codes of practices of various countries lack information about the Canopy. The present dissertation has been carried out to study the influence or the effect of Canopies on wind loads on low-rise buildings. This topic has been chosen because of its scarcity of information about it even in our own code, Indian Code, IS: 875 (Part-3), 1987. It involves testing of three gabled roof models in Closed-Circuit Wind Tunnel at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. Scale of 1:300 has been adopted for fabricating models in the present study for a proposed building having length = 9m, width = 4.5m and eaves height = 4.5m. Effects of Canopies have been studied for different slopes of Canopy and different wind incidence angles...
