dc.description.abstract | In East Africa and in Tanzania in particular the Government emphasis on providing basic amenities to its people has directly resulted in uplifting their life spans. The availability of clean water to almost all the rural areas has curtailed the break-up of many water borne epidemics that used to occur frequently. Unfortunately many soils in Tanzania are of fluoride rich volcanic ash whose water is highly naturally fluoridated. This use of excessively fluoridated water has resulted in many people carrying brown stained teeth and some severe cases of disfigured bodies are not uncommon, ' To combat this manace also it was necessary to defluo-ridate such water, using means and materials at our disposal. The experimentation of adsorption process on defluoridation, with the use of wood coal and hard coke as adsorbents is particularly suitable for Tanzania as these two are cheaply available anywhere in the country. | en_US |
