Abstract: | Because of the havocs floods, flood., studies have grain-ed great importance during the last century. One of the im— portant aspects of floods and their control is flood routing. Flood routing is a technique to . find out the temporal and -spatial variation of any flood wave as it traverse throur~h any river. The current. work which was carried out to . be presented in this thesis undertakes the study of some flood routing methods. This has been one by carrying out an sex— tensive and critical review of the hydrologic and hydreulc methods of flood rouging. The methods have been studied in the light of their advantages and disadvantages and hei applicability to various -conditions . of channel flow. Along with the methods mentioned a'?ove9 some numerical models have also been studied for the various hydraulic me•- thods viz, explicit method, implicit method and method of characteristics. Furthermore,, a few of the methods and models have been programmed and their use have been made to use some available and some hypothetical set of data and then the results have been checked either with the existing results or with any to other check provided. The routing techniques have been studied for a single channel and then their use for routing the floods through junc- tion.. have also been made. |
