Title: INFLUENCE OF GRADING OF SAND :,ON BEHAVIOUR OF FOOTINGS
Authors: Gupta, D. K.
Keywords: CIVIL ENGINEERING;SAND GRADING;FOOTINGS;GRANULAR SOILS
Issue Date: 1982
Abstract: An attempt has been made to investigate the effect of grading of granular soils on the behaviour of footings. Three types of granular soils at three relative densities were used and the tests were conducted in dry and submerged conditions. The modal footings were circular and square in shape of 25 mm width. The effect of surcharge was studied for circular foot-ing in dry condition. Based on the experimental data, conclusions were drawn on the effect of grading on ultimate failure load, ultimate failure strains and modulus of subgrade reaction.
