Issue Date: 1982
Abstract: In order to assess the dispersion capacity of a stream carrying chemical gia Lutants there is a necessity to predict dispersion coefficient. Numerical methods like change of moment method, routing method and diffusive transport method are available for prediction of disper- siren coefficient. These methods have several drawbacks like ivinq undue weightage to long tails, requiring many observation points at a sectionox involving tedious crmputations. In the present study numerical methods based on minimization of cumulative absolute error have been pr_npose~ . Besides heinc accurate than the methods in vo ie one of the method yield additional information like r1istance of source, initial concentration at the source and average velocity.
