Abstract: | The objective of the present study is to find the permeability of different proportions of cement sand mortars with or without water proofing compound. In this study different proportion of cement sand mortars has been consider for finding permeability. When the different percentage of water proofing compound in mix with different proportion of cement sand mortar, permeability of mortar drastically decreased. This may be a consequence of pore refinement cause by water proofing compound. Hence mortar is effectively less permeable. Thus using water-proofing compound in mortar can offer certain advantage over, using without water proofing compound mortar. The experimental program consisted of casting of 12 cylindrical specimens of size 100 mm x 50 mm. These include either with or without water proofing compound mortar. The quantity of water proofing compound varies with different proportion of cement sand mortars. Some specimens were tested at 7 days age as well as at 28 days ages. Average permeability and age of specimens with different proportion curve were obtained. The scope and objective of this thesis is to study the effect of permeability on different ages of specimens, with or without water proofing compound. |
