When construction managers have to carry out their responsibilities in the areas of construction and its support services, they need ready access to the right information. Timely access to the right data, properly processed for decision-making, can provide a competitive edge. And keeping track of information flow on a construction job site is a vital task that has a direct bearing on the timely and successful completion of a construction project. Construction Management Information System (CMIS) is a tool to help the project manager as the decision maker in the project site. This system will provide the information needed by project manager to do his job. CMIS is a database-based system. There are several systems to operate the database such as; relational database, hierarchical database, and network data model. The goal of this dissertation is to analyze the information needs of project personnel of projects in IIT Roorkee and apply Construction Management Information System to enhance the problem solving and information management abilities of construction site management personnel. The CM(S builds on the understanding of the function and information needs of various personnel at construction projects, and different documents used by them. A web site form has been chosen for CMIS implementation. This form allows the user to access CMIS from anywhere which has internet connection. CMIS provides several user interviews which are not new thing for construction personnel, CMIS just transferred them into online system. CMTS is applied to a live project, as a case study.en_US
