Abstract: In this thesis, the elastic analysis of monolithic grid slabs by various methods has been considered. For this, two different slabs have been selected. The first slab is a rectangular caw Of else $m x 12m sad the other one is a square slab if 12ne x 12m in else. These slabs are stiffened by rectangular rib beams which run parallel to edge supports at a spacing of two metres apart. Thee* slabs have been analysed by four prominent methods i.e. Anisotxopic Plate Theory, 11.11.0's Method, Stiffness Matrix MOW and Finite EarnestMethod. The results of analyses have been compared assuming that, the finite element method yields accurate results. It was observed that N.12.0's method gives values of the moments very near to the values at flange-rib moments even by the Wier element method, but it fails to give the moments borne by rib beams. A procedure is suggested by which the values of the rib beam moments are approximately arrived at without the rigorous analysis by the finite element method.
