Abstract: | Brick masonry is one of the most popular material used in the structural applications of all kinds, due to ease, speed of construction and easy availability of materials. In developing countries like India there is ever increasing demand of constructing a large number of buildings using bricks. The time and money involved in the analysis and design of such structures can be very much reduced by adopting computer aided design techniques. In this dissertation, computer aided design program has been developed for design of brick masonry walls, columns and their respective footings. The program has been written in FORTRAN 77. For the design of the elements, provisions of IS:1905- 1987 have been followed strictly. The software is interactive, user friendly and easy to modify. |
