In this investigation, an attempt has been made to determine the true shear parameters for the two Soils viz, Dhanauri clay and Kaolin. Drained, consolidated undrained. triaxial and direct shear tests have been carried out on the remoulded samples, The samples were prepared at optimum moisture contents for these soils, The comparison of results of true shear parameters by different methods has been made and a. rational method for the determination of true shear parameters has been suggested, The average values of true shear parameters of Ct = 0.13 kg/crn2 , Ot = 10 and Ct =,175 kg/crn2 , 170 Vt = 17 ha,ve been found for Dhanauri cli y and K<,o1in respectively, The results of the present investigation have also been compared with th.p earlier work of Gibson (1953)..en_US
