Abstract: The ever increasing demand for water of good to high quality has caused considerable attention to be directed toward the recovery and reuse of waste waters. Major problem is created by organic con- taminants, which are of molecular size and not amenable to biological degradation. For the removal of these organic refractories adsorption is ascertained to be a promi;dng technique. Although activated carbon is an efficient scavenger of organic refractories in waste water renovation-, its high cost and difficult procurement have encouraged investigations on other adsorbents. F`ly— ash has been tried by few investigators and indicated to have relati-vely poor adsorptive capacity, as compared to activated carbon. s-pite this knowledge, fly ash has been recommended for further invest- igations; because it has been considered to be a promising adsorbent. For further knowledge in this field, Kinetics and Adsorption Equilibrium are of major importance. This work, based on experimen-tal observations is to investigate the above said characteristics for fly ash. The process selected is t Batch Process r and adsorbate chosen is Phenol. The results are plotted, investigated and discussed by the available information on fly ash as an adsorbent. Residual phenol concentration in solution is measured by Aminoantipizyne Method, which is easy and quick method for phenol analysis.
