Issue Date: 1975
Abstract: The use of ''single stack ev stem' and 4odified one pipe system, of drainage in buildings, has proved to be efficient and safe, and provides considerable cost caving over-conventional (fully vented) systems, I)e®pite the research being carried out in various countries on these eyetoma,r adequate information on their design is ntiil. wanting. Some work has been done on single stack system in India az,d a simple design proced- ure has been derived, The present study is an extension of Verma's work '7 on the pirfor en of 'modified one pipe system'. Exper: ental data have been obtained for the modified one pipe system# using 100 mm stack and 75 mm Vent stack. The results of the study reveal that allowable discharge of 100 nm dia. stack is increased by 53 peroant by install. 1138 a 75 mm rentpipe,. Further, the modified one pipe- system with 100 mm stack and 73 mm vent ntack, has been found to be economical by 25 percent per storey compared to single stack system with 150 mm stack for buildings termer than 10 etoreyc, This is of particular j ificenco in context of the present dr 'Vertical azpnnsion of cities. The f'tna1 den# ► recommendations have boon presented in terms of the number of etoroys served by modified one pipe eyotcin coueiAeri.ng the 1O't:able discharge and the suction is stack ..
