Abstract: Several attempts have been made for optimizing w4ter distribution systems. The problem of optimizing the water supply mates involving tvo demand pat tens has been touched *air recently for the case of a single pipe line with multiple the le, fed by pump and overhead tank simu1t ,t- eously. In the present nvestigaticn, an algorithm has been developed for deter'zdning a minima cost system consisting of two pipe lines With multiple wi bdra le and fed eimultan eously by tvo pumps and an overhead t k, 'Two demand patte s# one for peak conditions and other for noupeak condition have been considered in this study, The problem has been solved by Xagrangian MuLtiplier method, incorporating hydrauli.c constraints and minimizing the cost of the system. For the case of continuous wtthdrawal of two main supply lines$, a system of integrl equations h&ve been develgpe . An Au Elgoritbmhas been suggested to solve these A computer programme was written and a Dias consisting of 15 and 5 with withdrawals in the two portions of pip# Line was solved on IBM 360/44, The remate have been eboim gmphioa3.ly. It has been shown that the central tsk is economical for large system consists of large number of withdrawals.
