Issue Date: 1974
Abstract: The dissertation presents an analysis carried out for determiningsediment transport law of the Ganga Canal for monsoon and non-monsoon period. The sediment relationship in the form of qt = aU? has been determined with a = .18 x i0-2 and b = 0.4 On the basis of the above sediment transport late and the continuity equation for sediment the variations of the bed profile t'ith different amount of sediment inflow have been computed. Bed profiles a.s computed have been compared with those observed in the field for the year 72-73 . The agreement betweenthe two profiles is, encouraging . It is proposed that such a procedure ;ith the above values of a and b and the measured sediment inflow at the head be used to predict bed profiles in future for monsoon and non-monsoon periods.
