Issue Date: 1998
Abstract: Digital Signal Processing(DSP)' is widely used in various areas. The. "integrated circuit technology has contributed in widening its application horizon providing cost-effective,. faster and powerful digital signal processing microprocessors. These microprocessors are being used _ for real time processing in image processing, speech analysis automotive, vibration analysis etc. This dissertation deals with analysis of vibration using digital _ signal processor. The vibration signal is picked up: by accelerometer and conditioned with , signal conditioner. The acquisition and the analysis is carried out off-line and-on-line using DSP. The analysis is aimed in extracting time domain features - frequency, acceleration(peak to peak-), velocity(pp) and displacement(pp)- and frequency spectrum, These parameters are sent for display` serially to PC. To tackle. the on-line vibration analysis constraints and to raise the effective bandwidth of the signal to be processed, the analysis is performed on block of samples. Different activities - with different processing time are distributed over different time slots 'extracting the necessary information within the current block and transferring during the next duration of a block
