Abstract: The present work deals with the investigation into the suitability of discrete capacitor voltage regulators for used with self-excited reluctance generator (SERG). The performance of SERG is analyzed using both types of voltage regulators i.e. stepped capacitor voltage regulator ' and series capacitor voltage regulator. Separate methodology are discussed using analytical studies involving design of the above simple discrete capacitor voltage regulators. Since voltage regulators are important part of SERG, it is felt• that the present study would be helpful in accessing the suitability of both types of capacitor voltage regulators for enhancing the performance of SERG.
