Abstract: | So much of the developing world is in the tropics particularly in the equatorial sub-zone, and it is a fact that the natural renewable resources are in excess in these areas-. The major reasons to believe the excess availability of natural renewable resources in these areas are : 1. All year long shower of solar radiation. 2. Fast winds due to the fastest rate of rotation of the earth at the equator (North east and south west trade-winds). 3. The distribution and variety of plants and suitability of the climate for plantation. In these days of cries for sustainability, to neglect these potentialities in our architectural equation is nothing less than irresponsibility. This thesis is, an attempt to prepare a possible design guideline for effective implimentation of Gods great gifts; the Sun, the Earth, the Air and the Water, in the creation of human habitat (in a cluster housing level), which simply means Eco-Architecture. The study is actually focussed on a group of houses, which form a cluster, their creation and their wholly relationship with nature. Basic informations about Ethiopia including topography, climate and rate of domestic energy consumption are given in the appendix |
