Title: STABILITY OF ROCK SLOPES WITH IN SITU STRESSES
Authors: Sharma, Ajay Kumar

Issue Date: 1998
Abstract: The stability of rock slopes is one of the important factors used by the Civil Engineers. Failure of rock slopes may occur in the form of landslides, slips or rock falls etc. The movement of the rock masses if not properly controlled may causes serious damage to the life and property of the people. Moreover, with the increase in construction activities in the lower Himalayan region, it becomes necessary to evaluate the stability of rock slopes. In the present work, a 'Computer Program for Stability Analysis of "Rock Slopes with Tetrahedral Wedge with In Situ Stresses' has been developed. The work is mainly based on Hoek & Bray's Rigorous Solution. However, the present includes the effect of in situ stresses also. The program has been developed in C language. As personal computers are readily available with the engineers at their offices, hence, the present work provides an efficient means to analyse the rock slopes.
