Issue Date: 1997
Abstract: R.C.C. tanks are used in water purification, sewage treatment etc. for storing large volume of water and other fluids. The problem of analysis, design, optimization and estimation of reinforced concrete circular tanks resting on the ground, have been dealt in this dissertation. The end conditions of the wall has been taken as fixed at base and free at the top. With the escalating cost of all the materials, optimization of any design problem has become a necessity to reduce the total cost. A software OPTANK has been developed for analysis and optimal design of various elements of reinforced concrete circular tanks and estimation of the designed tank has been taken in the program. Graphical representation of reinforcement details and bar bending schedule has also been included. The package has been developed in C language using BORLAND'S TURBO C compiler and can be used on any IBM compatible personal computer.
