dc.description.abstract | This dissertation aims to perform independent.model triangulation using.a different approach [to that suggested by Prof. Thompson (l965~, applying modified Schut=s method of absolute orientation and modified Oswal's.method of absolute orientation. Further, it •is aimed to use Schut's method of absolute orientation without taking perspective centre as origin and compare the results of these methods with the Schut's method of absolute orientation using the perspective centre coordinates. Chapter one introduces the historical development in independent model triangulation and justifies the present problem selected for the investigations. Chapter two gives a general review on the methods of independent model triangulation and gives brief review of the work being done recently on block triangulation using independent models. Mathematical basis applied in the various methods is given side by side, Complete experimental details are described in chapter three. A practical strip of Switzerland photography is triangulated. to carry out investigations. The analysis of results and conclusions derived are pre-sented in chapter' four. The computer programmes developed by the author during the work are listed in appendix C and the results•appear in appendix B. ( The computer programme for modi-fied Schut's method of absolute orientation could not be perfected due to want of time and hence the results have not been reported). It is concluded that there is little variation in the results obtained by these methods but,no definite conclusion can be drain. More strips with different specifications should be triangulated to arrive at any definite conclusion, | en_US |
