The recent decades have witnessed great advances in ground water hydraulics. The use of high speed digital computers , has made it possible to handle the large volume of computations with ease and speed. In the present work, unsteady drawdowns in leaky and non leaky aquifers were, computed by I.B.M..360 computer. The computations of unsteady drawdowns require the evaluation of well functions. The subroutines have been developed to generate these .functions. Gaussian quadratures were employed to evaluate these functions. The most of, the area , under the integrand - curve was found to lump around the maximum ordinate. The Gauss-Laguerre quadrature could not yield satisfactory results even with the constants for a very high degree polynomial. In order 'to overcome ' this difficulty, the range between the limits of integration was subdivided on a suitable 'logarithmic scale-, and Gauss_Legendre quadrature was applied' to each subdivision. The unsteady dr.awdowns have been computed in the leaky and nonleaky aquifers by making e use of the subroutines developed for the well functions.en_US
