Title: OPTIMIZATION OF RADIAL WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS
Authors: Kumar, Virendra
Keywords: CIVIL ENGINEERING;RADIAL WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS;NONLINEAR ALGEBRAIC EQUATIONS;WATER SUPPLY ZONE
Issue Date: 1973
Abstract: A radial water distribution system with multiple withdrawals has been synthesised. The constrained nonlinear optimization problem has been reduced to the solution of a set of nonlinear algebraic equations. Economics of providing combined pumping system versus independent pumping has been discussed. Curves for optimal design of pumping main has been presented. An ovor•-all economical size of a water supply zone, including ser.,. vice connection cost, has been obtained in close form.> Substantial economy can be achieved by use of the algori~~m presented het`ein.
