The study of the Erosion Resistance of Cohesive Soils is important and useful in design and stability of channels and in selecting the materiel for the core of an earth dam. In the present investigations the effect of pertinent properties of soils on Erosion Resistance have been studied. The study has been limited to cohesive - soils of the types used in the core of earth dam. The effect of shape and size of the cracks through core of an earth dam have also been studied. These cracks have been stimulated by circular and triangular holes through soil samples in the centre. To see the effect of overburden, soil samples has been made by static compaction in the pipes of the diameters of 100, 150 and 225 mm. It is observed that soils having high PI, more percen-tage of fines, high unconfined compressive strength and low permeability have high Erosion Resistance, and soils on dry sjde of O.M.C. are easily erodible than soils on wet side of O.M.C. The overburden does not seem to have a significant effect on the Erosion Resistance.en_US
