Abstract: It has been established (H.L.Oswal, 1970) that aerial triangulation based on exterior orientation data is possible and has certain advantages over con- ventional methods. The dissertation has as its objective the investigations of a selected method of exterio orientation suited for desk calculator work. The objectives of this dissertation are set out in Chapter 1. A brief review of the various methods of exte-nor orientation suited to desk calculator i&ork has been made in Chapter II. The review includes the comparative advantages and limitations of the each method and on the basis of this review the projectivity constants method has been chosen for investigation. The chosen method has been explained in full detail in Chapter Ill. Aerial triangulation of two strips of hypothetical photograa were carried out using the selected method o exterior orientation,, and details of these investigations appear in Chapter IV. The conclusions obtained on the basis of the results have been listed in Chapter IV, The results obtained show usefulness of the method for flat terrains.
