One of the major problems faced by India at present is that of food shortage. Such a situation may be due to the backwardness of India in agriculture, which is probably due to the lack of irrigation facilities, water logging and drainage problems, soil erosion, and the prevalence of certain cereal crop diseases etc* In. this dissertation, emphasis has been focussed on the principles and techniques of photo interpretation part- icularly pertinent to agriculture. This novel technique gives a partial solution to solve the above said problems to bring about green revolution, which is a pressing need to feed the fast increasing population. In Chapter 10 an introductory approach of photo interpretation technique has been made to solve the various agricultural problems confronted by our country, which are partially responsible for the food shortage. Chapter 1Z deals with a brief review of photo interpretation in general. Characteristics of photographic images, potentialities of aerial photography., significance of stereoscopy in photo interpretations and contribution of aerial mosaics have been discussed briefly# Status of photo interpretation and its procedure, photo keys# and photographic films etc. have also been dealt with.en_US
