Abstract: | Relief representation can be done either by the visual sense or by adding third dimension to two dimensional mapping. - This technique gives the actual idea of topography of the region, thus it is advantageous for the military pur-poses and for various demonstration purposes which otherwise would not have been achieved by ordinary two dimensional relief maps and plans. In this work the various techniques of relief representation have been dealt with. The third dimension has been given to two dimensional maps. The Braund' s Process of producing three dimensional lightweight model and the modern methods of profile scanning and carving the Master terrain model by changing the optical system into voltage time curves, have been described. Actual experiment on the topographic model of the University Campus area have been done by the plaster of paris and white zinc mixture and the characteristics of the three dimensional relief model formed have been noted in the last Chapter. |
