Abstract: | Model tests were performed in cohesionless soil on footings subjected to eccentric-inclined loads. A device was used to apply the load directly at the base of the footing at the desired inclination and eccentri, city. In each test failure load, settlement, tilt and extent of failure surface observations were taken. The failure loads in two-dimensional tests, when compared with previous theories, found closer to Meyerhof I s Theory. From settlement and tilt records, curves are obtained for predicting the settlement and tilt of footings subjected to eccentric-inclined loads at desired factor of safety. Shape factors have been determined for finding the bearing capacity for square and rectangular footings. |
