Title: EFFECT OF SHAPE ON BEARING CAPACITY OF MODEL FOOTINGS IN SAND
Authors: Ghumman, Manjit Singh
Keywords: CIVIL ENGINEERING;BEARING CAPACITY;MODEL FOOTINGS;SAND
Issue Date: 1966
Abstract: Synopsis series of model footings on dense sand have been subjected to vertical static loads. Observations were made of load displacement characteristics and ultimate bearing capacity. Failure patterns that here observed on the surface of sand are presented and examined. The results of 43 tests are correlated for square, circular and rectangular footings. Observed values of bearing Capacity have been compared with the values calculated on the basis of Terzaghi's equations and Meyerhof,'s modified analysis..
