Abstract: A study has been made of the behaviour of a two-storeyed . steel building frame under static and dynamic forces, The hys- teretic lateral load-deflection characteristics have been deter-mined in the linear range and also in the past-elastic range of deformation. Change in period and dumping of the structure for non-linearities in the plastic range were observed by testing the frame in free vibrations at various toad levels upto failure, The damping associated with each translational mode of vibration has been worked out and frequency-response curves have been constructed from the steady-state forced vibration test observationst Theoretical investigations to determine the dynamic pro-perties both in the linear and non-linear case were carried out and the results obtained have been compared with the experimental results.
