Abstract: These days the method of plastic design of structures is g*thing importance because of the realisation of the fact that the elastic theory can not give ua a true idea of the factor of safety of the structure as no material remains elastic right upto failure.. As the load on a redundant structure is continuously lucre used the sections under the. maximum moments start shoo n,g plasticity and tort into a, plastic hinge. In the case of ductile materials like mild steel the plastic binge is capable of undergoing large rotations because of the large ultimata strain of the material and consequently the structure fails by the formation of 0 a mechanism* Though this method has gamed importance and yielded good results in the ease of steel structure the send can not be expected in the case of concrete structures because Of the low ultimate strain of concretes Therefore, in the ease of concrete structures there is a possibility of the break down of the structure by over straing of concrete at One of the plastic binges before it ft as into a mechanism* , rational approach to the problemwill be to know the safe available rotation capacity of the hinge end thou to ascertain the ultimate load which will *On MS limiting rot This thesis deals with the doubly reinforced rectangular reinforced concrete sections In pure flexture,..
