They interfere serious-ly during coagulation# flocculation, filtration and produce objectionable odours and tastes. (rice, the algal laden water has entered the treatment plant there is little that can be done to reduce the effect of algao, So, in the opera. tion and maintenance of water purification plants, biologi-cal control of water trupplies i • as important as the physical$ chemical and bacteriological control* For the control of algae in water intended for domestic and industrial uses, the two basic elgicides commonly recommended are Copper Sulphate and Chlorineo In conventional water} treatment, alum is generally used as a coagulant.en_US
