|Abstract:||The present disseri.atlon, is concerned with the design and performance of bucket type energy.dtedipatars, A review and appraisal of the available information on the principles of energy dissipation and design practices for the different types of bidet .spillways has been given in Chepters I to 'I» The rest of the dissertation deals with the prob-lem of air resistance on jets which has an important bearing on the design3 and action of i- ju buckets, The problem has been -studied: theoretically as well as experimentally, and the results are presented In Chapters VXX and TI X, A tentative method for plotting the jet trajectory taking air resistance into Account, has been suggested. The true velocities along the jet can also be estimated by this procedure, Wither experimental work at larger heads is needed to provides' more reliable values of air. resistance coefficients, However, it is evident that the effect is significant and needs to be taken into account,|
