Abstract: The results of the investigation on the effect of spur-dike inclinations on scour characteristics are reported herein. Garde and $ubramanya(8)* have carried out investigations to analyse the problem of scour around spur- dikes and this study is a continuation thereof, Dimensional analysis has been carried out to determine the important parameters governing the phenomenon and to derive a functional relationship between them. This relationship has been verified with the help of experimental data collected in a 10 m. a(33 ft.) long and 1 m.(39,4 in.) wide rectangular flume, in the Hydraulics Laboratory. It has been found that the ma4 mum depth of scour increases with spur dike inclination continuously. Relationship between inclination 0 and factor "1 A, (representing the effect of spur-dike angle) has been proposed. It has been suggested that P'roude number of flow is a better criterion compared to discharge inten-sity to represent the flow characteristics.
