Issue Date: 2009
Abstract: In this thesis the use of Static. Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) for the enhancement of small Signal Stability of Single machine infinite bus (SMIB) system with help of an auxiliary damping controller is proposed A third order damping controller is which consists of a wash out block and two lead lag compensators is used for the stabilization of the mode 0 (system mode). The modeling of the damping controller is carried out and combined with the modeling of SMIB system consisting of Generator, transmission line, transformer, SSSC and its controller to regulate the DC link Voltage. eigenvalue analysis of the complete system mentioned above is carried out in MATLAB for tuning the parameters of damping controller to enhance damping of Power Oscillations and the results are validated through PSCAD/EMTDC software. ii
