Issue Date: 2009
Abstract: Buildings have become a major reason for global warming and the impacts associated with it by their intensive use of resources, energy and water. They are also producing a lot of waste materials by the building processes and occupant functions. In this scenario it has become very critical to create buildings which consume lesser resources and are environmental friendly. These buildings are called green buildings. The dissertation aims to propose an alternate design for the lecture hall complex building which is already under construction in IITR campus. The design process is carried out using LEED-NC guidelines and a comparison with the present design is done. Energy consumption and comfort levels in both the buildings are simulated using Design Builder software and the efficiency level is thus calculated. The analysis is aimed to show the benefits from a green building and the dissertation helps to reveal how a building is designed green.
