Abstract: All the planned physical development is aimed at achieving a better quality of life for human being. A city is more than the sum of its inhabitants. People put together can create a collective surplus of enjoyment-buildings brought together can give visual pleasure which none can give separately.. But this can have disastrous results if not properly, thoughtout & controlled. This can be rectified through the knowledge of aesthetics of urban form. The district centre of today is a result of the progress in various fields of technology, mechanization, transportation, the prevailling social and cultural systems and economic conditions, thus making physcial form of the urban area very complex in nature. In recent times there has been an awarness that an urban centre should be designed as a three-dimensional entity and its form to be thought as much as its plan. This demands a study of issues like activity patterns and urban form as a whole. It is equally essential to recognise & assign a form to each building so that it fits into its environment & is compatible with its neighbours.
