In this dissertation work, a distributed-wireless data acquisition system has been developed. Remote data acquisition modules are networked with embedded controller through RS-485 communication link combining wireless transmission in order to test the performance and to determine the efficiency of turbine & generator. The wireless modems are usually incorporated when the acquiring parameters are either virtually inaccessible or located remotely. Data acquisition software has been developed and dumped onto embedded controller. This controller could run the program on its own without being controlled by the host computer. The controller program takes care of data acquisition from all parameters and transmits the data to the host computer where the actual process of manipulations, computations and display takes place. The display program runs from the host computer, when it receives data from embedded controller it process the, status parameters and computes the efficiency. These remote data acquisition modules are intelligent data acquisition units. They are accommodated with inbuilt microprocessors, signal conditioning units, filters etc. The network of distributed-wireless data acquisition systems has number of applications in industries where bulk data acquisition is required among distributed parameters.en_US
