Abstract: Old stone masonry assumed a major role in the construction of masonry buildings due to the wide availability of stone as a natural resource and the simplicity of laying stone pieces above each other. In the present work represents the analysis of stone masonry structure using 3D-Finite element method. In present study Sheesh Mahal is taken as a case study. Sheesh Mahal is old stone masonry structure which is at Amber fort in Jaipur. This structure has cracked at so many critical areas due settlement of the foundation. In this present study total survey and all measurements of Sheesh Mahal were taken using the Total Station equipment. The stone and mortar samples collected from site were tested to fmding the material properties. All plan area of ground floor and first floor of Sheesh Mahal were drawn in Auto . Cad 2006. For the analysis work ABAQUS/Explicit 6.9 has been used. Total model of Sheesh Mahal was drawn in Abaqus using Auto Cad files. In this present study brittle cracking model was taken for the analysis of stone masonry (Sheesh Mahal) structure. Brittle cracking of structure was depending on the tensile strength of the materials. In this analysis assuming compressive behavior of the structure was linear elastic. In this analysis crack detection was based on purely Mode I fracture consideration, ensuing cracked behavior included both Mode I (tension softening/stiffening) and Mode II (shear softening/retention). In this present study model was analyzed by applying gravity load and different settlement of structure. Finally some of the retrofitting methods of stone masonry (Sheesh Mahal) are presented.
