dc.description.abstractElectricity is modern man's most convenient and useful form of energy. Without it the present social infrastructure would not at all be feasible. The increasing per capita consumption of electricity throughout the world reflects a growing standard of living of people. The optimum utilization by society of this form of energy can be ensured by an effective distribution system. A rapid rise in load demand is a common feature of most of developing countries. It is often followed by a disproportionate and haphazard expansion of the distribution network which results in low voltage problems, voltage fluctuations, and unreliable power supply to the consumers and excessive energy losses in the system. Further the arbitrary expansion may lead to heavy loss of equipment and production affecting over all system economy. This situation in the distribution system calls for optimal system expansion planning and design. A network capable of supplying the power to the loads must be planned that will result in acceptable voltage profile and loading of each system component. There are several methods in which an existing component may be increased in capacity. Cost associate to all the methods will be calculated and finally minimum cost associated expansion steps are chosen as the optimal cost capacity function In the present work a new method is proposed for finding out voltage and current sensen_US
