The aim of this study is to determine the behavior regarding Deflection and Moment Resistance of Rafters and columns . In addition, the study aims at providing guidelines for Design of Non-prismatic elements of a Gable frame based on Formulas for Prismatic sections by analyzing the behavior of a Gable Frame as per present understanding , under varying conditions of Loadings , Vertical and Lateral . The proposed approach is based on analysis of Gable Frames fixed at both supports. The analysis is done using Formulas of Kleinlogel , as well as analysis using STAAD . The analysis is done by varying Frame spacing, Slope of Rafter and Moment of Inertia of Rafter and Column. As a first step towards understanding a Gable Frame , use of Mathematically derived formulae given by A. Kleinlogel was resorted to . Thereafter , the Frame was analysed by increasing the depth of the section while keeping the Flange within limits for slenderness as given by IS 800:2007. The results have been compiled and presented and need further detailed study so as to verify and finalise the thumbrules that may so be derived. Curves giving out the relation between the Moment Capacity of a section Vs Ratio of Depth of Webto web thickness have been produced . In addition , the relation between the shear capacity of a section Vs Ratio of Web Depth to web thickness have been produced to understand the behavior of a Gable frame.en_US
