In this work the effect of different capacitor configurations on the steady state performance of a two winding single phase self excited induction generator is studied by carrying out the steady state analysis of the corresponding equivalent circuit. A number of configurations are taken and their performances, such as voltage regulation, power delivery, frequency variation, winding currents etc are found out. At last, this thesisd report proposes a software;tool to support the planning body under utility to select the best possible capacitor configuration for supplying a particular kind of load. The method uses Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) that converts the linguistic qualitative information of the decision makers(DMs) into quantitative information and scores different selection criteria under fuzzy environment. Then an Index is prepared to find the priorities of different configurations for that particular type of requirementen_US
