Abstract: In India, due to unequal economic development, the level of medical service varies from place to place, especially between urban areas and rural areas. Telemedicine provides the potential to shorten distance and put rural areas within arm's length of the medical systems of urban areas. It partially relieves the pressure due to shortage of physicians in rural areas and efficiently utilizes the most up-to-date medical facilities and intellectual resources in urban areas. One of the applications of Telemedicine is Teleconsultation. Teleconsultation system demonstrates the use of World Wide Web (WWW) for telemedicine and medical information exchange. A Teleconsultation system is used by physicians to study the medical data of a special case, through which he/she can consult other physicians. This communication can also be between a patient and a physician. There is a need of "Teleconsultation System" in every hospital for managing the details of the patients effectively and internet can connect a hospital to other hospitals globally thereby keeping the details to be viewed by authorized specialist, that helps in further consultation. In this dissertation an effort has been made to design a web site of a hospital where the data of patients will be kept with due confidentiality. When a patient registers himself, he can upload images and pathological data. Authorized persons (physicians) can view the patient history, the images and pathological data to give diagnosis results and prescriptions if any.
