dc.description.abstract | A brief historical introduction of the technological developments in power quality aspects in networks is presented. Compensation techniques using filter to reduce harmonics resulting from power networks are briefly reviewed, with accent on the most recent work. The use of input converters, dynamic filter for reactive power are covered and active filters are being proposed as an effective solution to reduce harmonic pollution. The application of the control structure of Current Controlled Voltage Source Inverter as a filter to compensate harmonics of a non linear load, is discussed. General equations describing the steady state operation of rectifier are given. Systematic modeling and analysis of the complete system is included. The switches of the inverter are governed by a PWM pattern, and the control strategy is simplified as compared to many active filters. Simulation result from an active filter are reported. Computer simulation results for various operating conditions show that good harmonic attenuation of line current can be obtained with proposed scheme | en_US |
