|Abstract:||The basic objective of a control system designer is to provide stability to the controlled .system. Plant stabilization can .be obtained with controller in the feedback path, using state variable feedback to place the closed loop poles at desired locations. - In this dissertation work, an attempt has been made to design feedback controller, employing state variable feedback. If the complete set of states not being available through measurement, estimated states, with full and reduced order state observers has been used for the purpose of stabilization of plant characteristic. Finally a technique for obtaining low order state observer for linear time invariant system, where an estimate is required of a restricted set of variables, has been developed. This techniques is based on obtaining a reduced order model using existing modal analysis technique and then design full order observer for reduced system. Software has also been developed for the design of observer in MATLAB|
