Abstract: | Now- a- days, it is the stage of computerization. Computerization hits all the work of life from education to entertainment, traffic and control to medical surgery. Computers have removed all the redundant paper files and registers. Now-a-days computerized databases are the main sources of information. The readily available, comprehensive but concise information increases the processing speed and aids vital decision. The dissertation titled "Bill of Material and Production Planning for Transformer Industry" using Oracle7.3 and DEVELOPER 2000 is a software application program that has been developed for Production Planning for any manufacturing unit. The production schedule is based on the order received, capacity of the unit, the sequence of the activities that involved in the manufacturing process, and the penalty clause (in case of overbooking) is prepared with the help of ' the software. Actual data has been obtained from the manufacturer. Also, the material requirements for manufacturing of a single transformer of various types have been calculated using the data sheets of manufacturer. The software has been developed using ORACLE 7.3 as RDBMS and DEVELOPER 2000 as the front-end tool. The process also aids one in analyzing the performance of a particular class. |
