Abstract: | In the present work performance of an induction motor is investigated when fed from a multilevel inverter. The structure of multilevel inverters is such that they can supply high output power while maintaining good harmonic quality. A model for three-phase three-level inverter fed induction motor drive is developed to calculate motor currents in time-domain. Voltage control has been obtained by implementing uniform PWM. The model is developed on the basis of coupled circuit theory. Extensive results of motor current are obtained in the frequency range 10-50 Hz. The performance of drive when fed from a multilevel inverter is found to be far superior to six step inverter in respect of harmonic quality and output power |
