Abstract: Voltage sags and extended under voltages are one of the main concerns of industry today. These voltage sags cause high negative impact on productivity. The system performance can be improved if the output voltage is kept constant .A booster transformer is used to keep the output voltage constant even if the input varies over a wider range. The booster transformer voltage is controlled using AC Chopper that does not introduce any lower order harmonics in the system. A solution to this problem is an AC Chopper that has been developed as voltage sag corrector. It consists of high speed MOSFET as switches. The firing pulses of the switches are generated using analog circuits. In the present work the AC Chopper has been designed, developed, fabricated and simulated to investigate its performance on R-L load. It is then operated as an automatic voltage regulator. The performance of the developed regulator is investigated experimentally. iii
